Opportunity: In 2020, every live event was cancelled. We saw an opportunity to take the Pepsi sponsorship of the Champions League Final Opening Ceremony to the next level.
Idea: ‘Pitch To Pitch’ Pepsi partnered with Marshmello to bring the Melloverse to the masses. Mello challenged his fanbase (including Messi, Pogba, Sancho, and more) to pitch location ideas for his next show, before revealing this would be the first ever virtual Opening Ceremony.
Selena Gomez and Khalid’s names were drawn in Champions League style, completing the lineup, while star talent wore Mello’s iconic helmet to inspire tune in. Mello stepped onto ‘the pitch’ for an immersive performance that blurred reality, broadcast live around the world on TV, Twitter and YouTube.
